Reuse and Recycle

I always felt that throwing away left over cloths from sewing is such a waste. During textile class, I learnt a way to make the bits and pieces into good use. this is what I did during class using my scrap fabric.

What I need to make this:
Scrap fabrics
Tracing paper
A picture (in my case, it is a flower)
Pencil
Penknife
Mounting board (can be found in art friend)

and I decided to make a quilted book cover making use of the left over fabrics from poly.
I cut the pieces of fabrics into specific shapes (triangles and square) and sew them together. In between the patchwork and inner lining, I added a thin piece of stuffing to make it abit more fluffy. lastly I stitch lines on it to create quilting.

Quilting is very useful for blankets, pouches, bags and so on. A wide variety of fabrics can be used to mix and match and create design for the patch work. be creative!

Group 3 Microteaching

The task question for group 3 is, 'Modern technology in food production and household equipment has helped make food preparation at home faster and easier. show how healthy dishes could be prepared using a variety of such technology.'
Today we learnt 3 new dishes from Zuzi, Yanie and Lee Kuan. The first dish is chicken rice using rice cooker which is a modern technology.

The second dish is chicken pau. We used both conventional steamer and electric steamer to steam the pau. after comparison, modern technology indeed make food preparation faster and easier. much lesser time is used to steam the pau using the electric steamer compared to convention steamer.
The last dish is a egg tart prepared using an oven. wholemeal flour is combined with plain flour to increase the nutrition level of the egg tart to make it healthier.
