Hello everybody,
Previously in class we were taught on how to use a napkin technique on a wooden material/object. It is very unique and interesting way to indulge students to use their creative mind as this can be taught in school. This technique is pretty hands-on,so make sure to not get your self smudge with paint! :-)
So what is Napkin technique?
Napkin technique is a fun activity that involve a napkin paper to be use as a decoration on a desired a ornament/object.
Materials required:
- An interesting looking napkin ( e.g. prints, logos, patterns, designs)
- A range of Acrylic paint
- A range of brush ( from thin, small tip to a large, thick tip)
- Varnish glue
- Hair-Dryer
Then just follow this easy steps:
Select your object - make sure it is clean
Select your napkin design - usually napkin has a few layers, make sure to remove all the layers between them, leaving only the main thin napkin.
Paint the surface of the object using lighter shade of acrylic paint, preferably white(if it has a small design that can be removed, use sand paper and paint several layers using acrylic paint)
Let it dry using a hand dryer using the low speed
Carefully cut out the desired napkin design and position it onto your object.
Carefully apply and use the varnish glue onto the cut-out napkin while laying it flat onto the object - make sure to start from the center to reduce and prevent bubbling of the napkin and also be careful not to rip it!.
Finally, let it dry using the hand-dryer and Viola! your done!
